Administrative Assistant's Day is this Wednesday, so if you'd like to show your appreciation to the hard-working administrative assistant in your life: here are two good ideas.

Flowers:

Flowers are one of the brightest ways to show your appreciation.  We can work with any budget to deliver a beautiful arrangement to a workplace or home in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.

Right now we're loving watch-them-grow bulb gardens--a blend of tulip, daffodil, and hyacinth bulbs that you can watch bloom!  And, you can dry the bulbs and replant them later, making them the gift that keeps on giving.

Gift Cards:

Another great gift idea is our gift cards!  We offer gift cards in any price range so you can give the gift of a shopping trip!  Come by the store to pick one up and see what kinds of gifts we offer-anything from candles and home goods to silk flowers and gourmet spreads!

So be prepared ad show your appreciation this Administrative Assistant's Day with a trip to our shop!

Product Feature: Luminara Candles

For cozy, classic home decor, nothing beats a gently flickering candle-but lit candles are often a hazard for forgetful homes.  This is where the Luminara candle comes in.

Some of the classic pillar candles

Luminara candles are the most realistic battery-operated candles we've seen here at Hummingbird.  Not only does the light dim and brighten like the real thing, but the 'flame' itself wiggles and sways. making it almost indistinguishable from a live candle.

Luminara offers a range of candles in different sizes, colors, and textures.  They range from birch-wrapped for a rustic theme to beveled tops that look as if the candle has melted down with use.

What makes these candles extra-impressive is the timer setting, so they will automatically shut down after a few hours and let you save on battery costs!

We couldn't be more impressed with Luminara candles, and love having them around the shop.  We hope you'll find the perfect candle for your home as well.

Product Feature: The Christmas Pickle

We are very happy to have gotten in our Christmas pickles from Kitras, handcrafted glass pieces that tell a story.  Here's the story of the Christmas pickle.

If you want to start a fun, quirky tradition with your family,  consider picking up a Kitras Christmas pickle.

Feature: Essential Oils

Essential oils have been around for thousands of years, and aren't going away any time soon.  Today we're looking at our new line of essential oil products: SunLeaf naturals.

SunLeaf diffusers

SunLeaf is a line of naturally sourced, MN-based oils, soaps, and many other body care products designed to not only smell amazing, but act as natural aromatherapy treatments.

SunLeaf uses cruelty free, hand-tested, biodegradable materials to create a line of rich scents like Lemon, Lavender, Peppermint, and Geranium. A small amount on pulse points delivers a refreshing hint that lasts all day. Don't let the bottle size fool you, a little dose of these oils goes a long way!  Check out SunLeaf's recipes for DIY cleaners here.

As well as single note scents, SunLeaf offers rich blends that are perfect for adding to a DIY cleaning recipe, lotion, or diffuser to give rooms a relaxing atmosphere.

So if you're looking to start integrating essential oils into your life, check out our new SunLeaf display!

Product Feature: Lifetime Candle

With summer drawing to a close (I know, too soon), it's time to think about fall.  One great fall decor item to have is a Lifetime Candle.

A row of autumn candles

"Wow, that's a candle?" is a phrase we hear a lot with Lifetime Candles.  With different shapes, sizes, and fillings, it's easy to find something that will give your home a fall touch.

Lifetime Candles are filled with paraffin oil and a variety of silk flowers, fruits, plants and more to create a breathtaking display piece.  And the name is no throwaway: these candles last years. Add the fact that you can easily refill them with paraffin oil and you'll see why they're so popular with our store.

Larger centerpiece options

The candles are hand filled and sold with a guarantee that you'll never need to replace the wick.  You don't even need to light one to appreciate its beauty; the colors paired with unique glass shapes are more than enough to welcome fall into your home.

A sleek harvest cylinder

So, if you're looking to add a beautiful Lifetime Candle to your home or give it as a gift, come visit us to find the prefect fall match.

An Introduction To Us

Welcome to the official blog for Hummingbird Floral and Gift!  If you want beautiful posts of weddings and the flowers we provide for them, insider posts about the flower business and how it works, or even suggestions for new products and gift ideas, you've come to the right place.

First things first: we want to introduce ourselves.

Summer is in full effect out front

Hummingbird Floral & Gifts is an all service floral and gift store located in Shoreview, Minnesota.  We provide arrangements and floral services to not just the surrounding communities but locations throughout the state and the country.  Not only do we pride ourselves on the high quality flowers that go into your arrangements and bouquets, but we also find the most unique boutique-style gifts to offer in our spacious store, from artisan jams to jewelry, cards, and even handmade lamps.  Here's a little more of what we do.

Flowers:  We know how much a great arrangement can mean to a wedding, funeral, anniversary, birthday, even prom!  That's why we offer a wide array of flowers that will suit any occasion.  Designers work with customers to create one of a kind pieces that fit any budget. We make sure your flowers are of the highest quality by sourcing flowers locally and by maintaining the cold chain (more on that later) from the grower to our shop.

Gifts:  Alongside the floral aspect of our business, we dedicate time into finding products that can't be found anywhere else.  Whether it be an intricate Lifetime candle that will burn for years, or a stunning hand blown Kitras glass ornament, we make sure every product we offer is something we would put in our own homes.

Now, on to the blog!  We want this blog to highlight things we love.  Expect posts about recent events we have made arrangements for, such as weddings or parties, and get ideas on what kind of flowers you want for your next special occasion.  We will spotlight trends in flowers (like which ones people are decorating cakes with!) and the behind the scenes looks at the flower industry and those who work in it.  Finally, we will let you know what products we are loving at the moment, and more about the companies who make them.

But that's not all!  What do you want to see?  Maybe you're curious about how many different arrangements are used in a wedding.  Or what scents and essential oils are best for a friend that needs to relax more.  Or maybe you just want to see what flowers we have in the cooler.  Let us know in a comment below and we'll get back to you.

Last thing: this blog will be updated weekly!  Check back every Tuesday for a new post.  In the meantime, check us out on facebook and instagram.
